Anya Gue, PT, DPT to lead injury prevention clinics for female cyclists & triathletes

Anya Gue, Doctor of Physical Therapy will be accompanying us at our Women’s Camp in Tucson, AZ. Not only will Anya be out on the roads riding with us during the week, she will provide several clinics to discuss common injuries seen in female endurance athletes, and will guide you through exercise routines designed to prevent common muscular imbalances which often contribute to these injuries. Primary topics will include:

  • Common Injuries of the Female Endurance Athlete:
    • Low back pain
    • Hip pain
    • Knee pain
    • Urinary incontinence
  • Important areas of focus for injury prevention
    • Core Strength and stability
      • This is not just sit-ups or P90X! We will discuss “core stabilizing musculature that often becomes dysfunctional yet is essential for injury prevention and efficiency during running, biking, and swimming
        • Diaphragm, pelvic floor, Transverse abdomens, multifidi
    • Hip strength
      • Gluteals
      • Deep hip rotator musculature
    • Posture
      • Not just “sit up straight”
      • Learn ideal positioning on the bike in order to maximize power and minimize risk for low back, hip, and knee pain
      • Learn ideal positioning for allowing your core and hip muscular to function properly while running and biking

About Anya

Anya has worked with the Cycling House for the past 6 years and has guided in Arizona, France and Mallorca*. She now works full time at Endurance Physio which is a premier PT clinic based in Missoula, MT that focuses specifically on cyclists and endurance runners. She graduated from the University of Montana School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences in May of 2014 and has continued to further her knowledge base as a PT via mentorship from various clinics around the country. While Anya works with orthopedic injuries of all types, her primary clinical interests include functional biomechanical movement analysis and exercise-based rehabilitation of running, cycling, and other overuse injuries.  Anya understands the importance of a well-functioning body for sustaining physical and mental well-being of those who wish to push the limits of adventure and fitness. She is passionate about utilizing current evidence-based interventions and technology in order to optimize outcomes you can continue to pursue your passions.

*It just so happens that she’s also married to Owen Gue, owner and president of the Cycling House… lucky him!
