WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT WORKING AT THE CYCLING HOUSE
What I love about working at The Cycling House is the energy there. The atmosphere at TCH motivates me to be my best and makes me appreciate how special it is to work in such an environment with such amazing co-workers and inspiring guests. I always end the day with a smile on my face.
ONE OF THE BEST DAYS YOU'VE HAD ON THE BIKE
One of the best days I've had on my bike was also one of the most impactful. I was riding the northern region of Jordan in the Middle East where the borders of Israel, Syria and Jordan come together. A place of tension you could say. The riding here is spectacular; long hard climbs through the rolling mountain in a very rural setting with biblical views all around. On top of this amazing terrain there is a layer of hardship I have found no-where else while riding bikes. An intense military presence was here, this area was a part of the red zone, not advised for travel of any sort. Yet there was surprising calm here of the border of three nations who recently have been on the path of war.
We rode bikes through this hill country with locals who hadn't ridden in a long time. I couldn't understand the hardship these people faced everyday, nor could I really take in all of the layers of government sanctions or the military tensions, it was too much. But I was able to connect via bicycles, the simple joy it brought to these people warmed my heart. I couldn't have been more different than these people. I didn't speak their language, but when we mounted out saddles all of the differences melted away and we just rode through beautiful farmland, stopping at military check-points every couple miles, all while laughing and smiling from the simple joy of being on a bicycle.
