WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT WORKING AT THE CYCLING HOUSE?
I’m glad to work at a place that I enjoy so much it doesn’t seem like work at all! Being a part of the TCH team has given me the opportunity to work alongside so many great people who are now my close friends. Riding with TCH has given me another reason to pursue my passion as a creative cook. I love working the summer camping / riding trips where the fun doesn’t stop until the campfire’s out.
I think any day on the bike is a good day, even if it’s just commuting to run errands. But since I have to choose a favorite…can I pick two? First, I would have to say that my most memorable road ride was in Spain, riding the Sa Calobra. It was memorable because of the person I was able to share the experience with and because of the iconic road. All the hairpin twists and turns, it was never ending and the views were just so spectacular! When you are finally finished descending you come to this beautiful cove called the Cala Tuent. There you can take in the scenery watching cliff divers or simply smelling the salty ocean air. My favorite part of the ride was climbing back to the top. But only because I insisted on stopping at the cafe, once there I ate one of the most delicious tarta de almendras (almond cake) and ordered a cortada to get me through the rest of the ride!
My second favorite ride would have to be mountain biking any one of the fast and flowy trails in my home-state of Utah. Especially, the trails in Park City. The Park City trail system easily boasts some of the best mountain biking anywhere around! I have a love / hate relationship with the climb up “Puke Hill”, as it is properly named, to see if I’m strong enough to get to the top. The challenge is always to ride the entire climb without stopping. The reward comes once you see the views of the mountains from the top of the Wasatch Crest Trail. The wildflowers are particularly nice in the springtime and the changing leaves of fall are another reason to ride every chance you get!
ONE OF THE BEST DAY'S YOU'VE EVER HAD ON THE BIKE
One of the best day’s I’ve ever had on a bike would have to be riding the Bangtail Divide in Bozeman, MT. with my mejor amiga, Talyn. We started early in the morning and rode all day! It was one of my best days because the trail was so amazing and her company was all time. The trail offered a ridgeline traverse with fields of wildflowers. We know how to plan an all day adventure together because when we finally took a break it was to catch our breath from laughing and eat the pizza packed away in our bags. That was easily one of the best days I’ve had on my mountain bike, not because we went fast or packed ultra light, it was the best because we spent all day in the mountains and experienced the ride together.
