Q&A with Ruby
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT WORKING AT THE CYCLING HOUSE?
Working at TCH doesn’t feel like work because of the lovely fun community of staff that surrounds you as you are at the kitchen sink scrubbing dishes. Getting to be outside on my bike with excellent stories, vast beautiful views and new friendships building is the dream. TCH always keeps me on my toes, challenging me and encouraging me to improve with each new relationship and experience. I am grateful for all the new connections and most of all the new friendships that I have made.
My favorite ride that I have done with TCH is Lake Koocanusa. This ride is a reminder of one of the many reasons I love Montana. It is a quiet road that is not traveled often, particularly the second half of it. This ride has fun engaging climbs and descents with stunning views of Koocanusa. Then you are winding through the backwoods of Montana on a small paved logging road with man/woman eating pot-holes that keep you in check. My favorite ride in my home
town of Bozeman is the Bangtail. It’s the classic iconic ride in the area. You have stunning views of the Crazy and Bridger mountains with wild flowers popping in the fields and engaging fun single track. I have been doing this ride since I was a youngster and have many fond memories all along it.
ONE OF THE BEST DAY'S YOU'VE EVER HAD ON THE BIKE
I am fortunate enough to have had countless best days on my bike. I truly feel as though any day I get to be on my bike it a great day. I had so many great days when I was on the Great Divide and many days of just pure fun on trails around town. One ride in particular that sticks out is a ride in Idaho called Osburg Ridge trail. It is 38 miles of single track that follows a stunning ridgeline with views of the Smoky Mountains. I rode this trail with my mom when she
was visiting. Wild lupine’s painted the hillsides and the trail wove its way through the burnt trees making them pop. My mom and I couldn’t stop whooping and hollering throughout the whole ride. It was an amazing day on the bike and I felt so lucky to get to have such an amazing, strong mom to share it with!
