Ride the Champagne Dirt Roads of Steamboat
Steamboat, Colorado has some of the best gravel cycling in the country! We launched our Steamboat gravel camp in 2018, and it was a huge success. The ranchlands surrounding the quaint town of Steamboat Springs offer great terrain and beautiful quiet gravel roads. Steamboat is best known as a ski-resort town, but cycling is very popular in this outdoor-minded community. Quite a few outdoor industry businesses call Steamboat home including; Moots Cycles, Smartwool, Big Agnes, and Honey Stinger. The Cycling House is an authorized dealer of Moots Cycles, and we have hosted Moots owners camps in Tucson for the past several years. We love the Moots brand and they played a huge part in bringing us to Steamboat. On one of our afternoons, we will have the opportunity to tour the Moots factory and see where the magic happens.
Steamboat is a gravel cyclists paradise. It is no surprise that Moots Cycles calls Steamboat home. The Cycling House is an authorized dealer of Moots bikes and they had a hand in planning this amazing week of riding. The routes that we cycle are Moots staff favorites and offer great variety. Most of the rides will have a couple of options in the lengths of the rides. We strive to satisfy each rider and give longer and shorter options. The week culminates with the Moots Cycles Ranch Rally, a charity ride that raises funds for the Agriculture Alliance of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The trip price includes your registration into the Ranch Rally. The ride is an untimed organized ride that finishes with lunch and post-ride party, where they raffle off a Moots frameset and other goodies.
Off the bike, we have plenty of time to relax and explore Steamboat. Our home base house is slopeside at The Steamboat Springs Ski Resort. The Cycling House Chef will cook the majority of the meals family style at the house. Flights arrive daily to the Hayden/Steamboat airport (HDN) and The Cycling House will provide airport shuttles.
Real Food, Made Fresh!
One of our goals is to support the Steamboat Springs community, which means working directly with the folks who source local and regional ingredients. You can count on clean, healthy and exquisite food on any of our Tucson camps. This takes a little more time and effort on our end, but it’s worth it when you’re enjoying a superb meal after a superb ride in the desert. We prepare food specifically for endurance athletes, which means we focus on healthy, lean proteins, lots of leafy greens and root veggies, and plenty of flavorful side dishes. Our chefs make dishes from around the world that they’ve been inspired by, so each meal is diverse, interesting, and, above all else, delicious. We eat family-style, together at one big table. We’ve always enjoyed our meals this way and it’s had a profound impact on our camps. You can count on us to take care of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we accommodate all dietary preferences and restrictions.
Steamboat Springs, Colorado is a paradise for a gravel cyclist. The champagne gravel is some of the fastest rolling gravel roads we have ever experienced. Routt county treats many of the roads with Magnesium Chloride, which makes for some smooth buttery gravel. The ride itinerary includes Moots staff favorites, with plenty of variety. The rides will have longer and shorter options and our staff offers great support. Our final ride is the Moots Ranch Rally, a charity ride that raises funds for the Steamboat Agricultural Alliance. The trip cost includes your registration into the ride. The Ranch Rally is an un-timed event that finishes with a picnic lunch and is followed by a post-ride party and raffle.
