Pedal Power

Power meters serve as wonderful tools to help dial in your training and race day efforts and the Garmin Vector pedals serve as one of the more accurate power meters out there.  Most power meters measure power from the rear hub or drive train, but Garmin opted to measure from where force is directly applied, the pedals.  By doing this the power reading is more accurate by measuring directly at the source of stress (although the PowerTap G3  is reliable as well) and provides unique data. Hub and drive train power meters can only provide you with total power output. Garmin is able to capture the power output of each leg. Now you can see the efficiency of your right leg vs. your left, which will allow you to develop more balanced form.

New this winter, Vector pedals will be able to record where in your stroke power is being applied in addition to the standard pedal smoothness measurement. Data this accurate can only help you improve as a rider. Get your pedaling dialed in and you’ll be taking in the views from the top of Mt. Lemmon in Tucson or Ventoux in France while the rest of the group is still battling.

The Garmin Vector pedals are also easy to install. While other power meters may require wheel building experience, Vector only requires a simple pedal change. This makes it easy to switch from your training bike to your race day ride. Plus, Garmin’s technical support is easy to work with so confusion will be very limited.

The pedals currently only fit Look/Keo cleats.  The pedals will fit most crank arms, but there is a larger platform for bigger arms. Give us a call to see if your setup will accommodate the Vector. 406-219-1318

If you want a simple power meter the Vector is probably not the best option for you. But if you are a data cruncher or want to be as efficient as possible, the Garmin Vector can take you to the next level.
