Supporting NICA Montana

Montana will become one of the newest state leagues in the growing National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), the national governing body for interscholastic mountain biking in the United States. This is big, big news for youth cycling in Montana.

Montana League Director and mountain bike Olympian, Sam Schultz is also a long time Cycling House guide and camp director and longtime Missoula, MT childhood friend of Owen Gue, President of The Cycling House.  Sam and Owen both remember the days of growing up being young bike racers in Montana. Often times there would be 2 or 3 other juniors to race against in the entire state! This new NICA league will change that and ultimately young riders and racers will have many other peers to compete against, build friendships and camaraderie and have fun!

How we work with NICA MT:

  • Every year one NICA MT athlete receives one of our Cycling House Scholarships to Tucson, AZ. We love this because it’s a serious motivator for some of the NICA MT racers and it dovetails nicely with a winter getaway for a youngster that’s motivated to train in the sunshine for a week and learn from more experienced riders. Also, we think back to when we were training and racing in high school and believe that a training camp like this would have been the coolest thing ever.
  • We’re a proud Gold Lever Sponsor!

How you can help:

  • NICA MT is predominately funded by private donations. If you’d like to help us support this organization, check out this page.
