Garmin Forerunner 910xt

The Garmin Forerunner 910xt is the supposed answer for triathletes.  I was skeptical.  There are lots of Garmin models and it’s hard to keep track of which model does what.  After doing a little research and talking to some folks, I’m convinced the 910xt is going to be the most popular training computer of 2012.

Here are the features that set it apart:

1.  Training with power on your bike.  It’s fully ANT compatible with your Powertap or the new Garmin Vector Pedals.  It’s got TSS and Normalized Power features.  It’s basically got everything the Edge Series has with the bonus of TSS and NP

2.  Wireless Download.  If you are within range of your computer the 910xt automatically downloads your workout information.

3.  Transition between disciplines.  With the press of a button you can switch between run, swim, and bike modes.

4.   Size.  It’s really small.  No more having a watch for running and an Edge for biking.  Keep it on your wrist and use it for everything.

5.  Vibration Nudge.  Ever have someone’s Zone Alarm go off during a ride or run?  How embarrassing/annoying is that when your going balls out?  The 910 has vibration setting so you can shut the noise down, and just get a subtle reminder.

6.  Swim Metrics.  One of the only products on the market that can track swim metrics.

I just ordered 5 for The Cycling House Store.  They’ll be here March 15th.  First come first serve!  Email me, shaun@thecyclinghouse.com.
