The sprint during stage 3 of the Giro was an eye opener. A couple things stand out right away. Roberto Ferrari swings way off his line and takes out Mark Cavendish. Ferrari claimed the rider in front of him slowed down and he had no where to go. Ferrari was relegated to last place on the stage. Since the crash there has been lots of discussion. The most interesting point I’ve heard is riders “self policing” themselves. Not quite to the length of baseball where you retaliate by hitting the other teams batter, but there are many ways to make a cyclist feel uncomfortable in the bunch. Check out the Farnese Vini rider bunny hop Cavendish. Impressive bike handling.
