Cyclocross on the mind this morning.
The HED Ardennes would be a fantastic cross wheel. Here are my top 5 HED Wheels for Cyclcoross:
5. HED Ardennes GP – retails for $749, 1702 grams, clincher only, 18/24h, 210 lb rider limit. I love this wheelset for the seasonal cross rider. You race hard and want good equipment but you also want a set of wheels you don’t have to worry. Despite the weight, these are race worthy. You’re still getting the C2 23mm rim and the HED Warranty for half the price.
4. HED Stinger 5 – retails for $2199, 1545 grams, tubular only, 18/24h, 210lb rider limit. 50mm carbon rims, at this price point these are made for hardcore cyclocrosser (20+ races a year). They are in the middle weight as far as competitors at that rim depth, but the quality is un-matched. The wide rim is perfect for cyclocross tires.
3. HED Ardennes CL – retails for $849, 1642 grams, tubular or clincher, 24/28h, 225 rider limit. The tubular option and lighter weight make these a bit better then the GP’s. You are still getting a 2-cross spoke pattern which is great for cross. This would be a great intro to tubular wheel for a committed crosser.
2. HED Ardennes LT – retails for $899, 1517 grams, tubular or clincher, 18/24h, standard or stallion build. Two different build options gives this the nod over the CL, also 100+ grams lighter. If you are a serious racer and don’t want to make the jump to the SL’s these are quite comparable.
1. HED Ardennes SL – retails for $1099, 1449 grams, tubular or clincher, 18/24h, standard or stallion build. These are the most popular wheels we sell and they are also the best for cyclocross. Super lightweight and extremely durable and of course with the all the cross friendly bells and whistles.
