Some places just feel right the moment you arrive. That’s exactly how we felt when we found Zaca Lake, and we’re thrilled to share that The Cycling House California trip has a new home.
Set in the rolling hills of the Santa Ynez Valley, Zaca Lake Resort elevates everything we love about this trip: quiet roads, spring sunshine, wine country riding, and now, life on the water. It’s a peaceful, beautiful setting surrounded by redwood trees and nature that invites you to slow down, ride well, and soak it all in. The best part is that our chefs have a beautiful professional kitchen to serve up delicious home-cooked meals.

Wine Country, the Cycling House Way
California wine country is iconic for a reason. Our routes weave through vineyards, ranch land, and oak-lined backroads, delivering a riding experience that’s both scenic and surprisingly serene. These are the quietest paved roads of any Cycling House trip, making for relaxed, uninterrupted riding that lets you stay fully present and soak in the spring colors.
Rolling terrain, steady climbs, and flowing descents create routes that feel purposeful but never overwhelming. Check out the new routes here. As always, the rides will be fully supported with guides and vans, plus we have longer and shorter options to cater to all riding abilities and fitness levels.

Springtime in the Santa Ynez Valley
Spring is when this region truly shines. Hillsides come alive with wildflowers, the air is fresh, and the days are warmed by consistent California sunshine. It’s the kind of weather cyclists dream about; cool mornings, comfortable afternoons, and golden evenings that stretch well past dinner.

Life on the Lake
What truly sets this trip apart is the setting itself. Aside from our Montana Gravel Summer Camp Paxson trip, this is the only Cycling House trip based on a lake. What’s better than post-ride lake time?
After your ride, the lake becomes the gathering place. Swim off the dock, lounge in the shade, or enjoy a quiet moment by the water with a glass of local wine in hand. Zaca Lake naturally brings people together while offering plenty of space to unwind and recharge.

A Refined California Experience
Our move to Zaca Lake allows us to offer a more immersive and restorative version of this classic trip, one that balances incredible riding with true downtime. It’s still everything you expect from The Cycling House: exceptional routes, great food, thoughtful hospitality, and a welcoming community, now set against one of the most peaceful backdrops we’ve ever had.
We can’t wait to welcome you there, trip dates below.
