A cool part about visiting The Cycling House in Tucson is following the staff for the rest of the season. This past winter we had a Ben Hoffman Camp and a Linsey Corbin camp. Both Corbin and the “Hoff” were very active this past weekend. Hoffman won his second career Ironman at St George. It wasn’t just any Ironman….3-4 foot swells during the swim. Ben was blown off his bike and recorded a 30 minute slower bike split then his 2nd place performance a year ago.
Close by over in California Linsey Corbin was trying to back up a super fast 2:33 bike split to win the Wildflower Triathlon. Corbin couldn’t hold on as Heather Jackson’s 1:21 run was too much. Corbo was 2nd on the day.
Besides the TCH pro friends there was another athlete that had me glued to my computer. TCH Staffer, Emily Kipp was competing in her first ever Ironman. After the bike our splits weren’t coming through on the computer. She pushed through one of the toughest Ironman’s in the history of the sport, finishing in the 13 hour range. Kipp was on the bike for nearly 7 hours in gail force winds and had enough in the tank to run a 4:30 marathon. #Toughasnails.
