Hammer Nutrition Perpetuem Solids

Better known as #solids, these tasty treats have been keeping me rolling the last year.

The solid version of Hammer Nutrition’s hit product has been out for awhile.  It comes in three flavors; Caffe Latte, Orange Vanilla, and Strawberry Vanilla.  If you haven’t seem them, they are chew-able mini cylinders that contain 33.3 calories per cyclinder.  You can only chew one at a time.

I’ve had a roller coaster ride with Perpetuem Solids.  When they first came out I was super excited.  I had been using the Perpetuem drink mix for a couple years and I was excited for a chew-able version.  After trying them for the first time I couldn’t figure out how I was going to chew it during intense exercise.

Like all office junkies I’m constantly hungry.  Without the go to co-workers bringing in treats, I went to the Perpetuem Solids and I’ve never looked back.

Hammer recommends 2-3 tablets per hour for my weight.  They are to be used for exercises over 2 hours.  My exercise routine shifted from evenings to lunch break and I realized that breakfast wasn’t giving me enough juice for the noon hour.  I started eating 4-5 solids around 11am and then working out from 12-130.  I throw 2-3 in my pocket for emergencies, but if I’m running or doing circuits at Momentum the 4-5 prior are the perfect energy source.  Here are my favorite things about my #solids experience:

-ease of use, pop them like candy (and I love candy)

-they are light on the stomach, especially if you are exercising right away

-they last forever, un-like a drink mix, these babies last 

-great for long group mtb rides where you know your going to stop alot or pre-exercise
