Welcome to the seventh issue of The Cycling House Circular. September and October are exciting months in the cycling and triathlon world.
Cyclocross is in full swing which means cold and muddy races, athletes pushing the fashion limits to the max with their racing attire, and well above average amounts of beer being consumed. The Ironman races hit its climax in the Pacific Ocean at a little place called Kona. And The Cycling House prepares for another great season down in Tucson, Arizona. It really is a great time to be a rider! I hope you thoroughly enjoy this months newsletter. We’ll see you in Tucson.
Ironman World Championships
Congratulations to Linsey Corbin of Missoula, MT on her amazing race at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI. In only her second year as a professional triathlete, Linsey was the first American finisher and ended up placing 5th overall in the hugely competitive women’s race. Carrying on the Montana triathlon tradition, she ran the last kilometer of her race sporting a cowboy hat and huge grin, something that only a Montanan could pull off. She had the 3rd best time split on the bike and finished with a time of 9:28:51. You Rock Linsey! You may see Linsey Corbin down at The Cycling House training for the upcoming season in Tucson.
Jeff Cuddeback had another great race in Kona! He finished 2nd overall in his 50-54 age group with a time of 9:44:43. Last winter, Jeff completed two Ironman training stints at The Cycling House and also helped coach other athletes that were training at the house. For this upcoming season Jeff will be coaching the tri-specific Hammer Camp in March and plans on making it down to TCH during the winter months to get ready for another big year of racing triathlons. Jeff uses The Cycling House’s HED Jet 6 Wheels while cycling at the house in Tucson, AZ and is also well versed in training with Watts so you can try out the new Cyclops PowerTap SL.
Duathlon World Championships
Doug Leib Competed in the 2008 Duathlon World Championships in Florence, Italy. The race was hit with a trifecta of wind, rain, and cold which made for miserable racing conditions. Consequently, Doug slid out on a 180 degree corner on the sixth lap of the race and suffered a hematoma on his left hip that he’s still trying to recover from. Amazingly, Doug finished the race and ended up at an impressive 28th overall in his age group and 10th among the US competitors. Hammer Nutrition helped him survive. Nice work representing The Cycling House Doug!
