The HED Big Deal wheelset has been kicking for a couple years now, but it’s really been taking off this Fall.  We’ve seen the growth at TCH and decided to add a “Fat Bike Central” to our online store.  Who knows maybe one day we’ll add Fat Bike Tours to our Camps!

Back to the HED Big Deal.  Why is everyone so googoo gaga over it?  Well it’s actually pretty simple and follows almost all the other bike trends.  A leader in the market (HED) puts their creative muscle behind a product that doesn’t have a lot of of options within the sector.  They make it lighter, and overall better then the nearest competitor by a huge margin.  Sure, there are smaller companies making wheels and soon the larger companies will come out with their own if they haven’t already.  It’s a similar story to HED’s philisophy on 650 wheels.  They always used top notch technology for their 650 setups and in turn quickly became the leader in that market for decades.  If they decide to do something they’ll do it right.

Bottom line is that you are going to save 1.5-2 pounds per wheel by switching to the Big Deal.  There are two really good stock options that we sell, the HED Big Deal with 907 hubs or the HED Big Deal with Industry 9 hubs.  You can still order through us and send your hubs to HED, that is the most affordable option.
