I previewed the Montana Hell Ride course today. Below are pictures of each dirt section with descriptions.
This is the first section of dirt road up Skalkaho Pass. It’s very typical to what the road is like for this large first climb. Brake bump and pothole section mostly after big corners. The dirt itself is in great riding shape with very little gravel. This is also the final descent of the ride.
This picture is from the backside of Skalkaho Pass on the first descent. This is a transition from dirt to pavement. The dirt is in solid shape on the descent with some potholes and brake bumps. The real danger with this section is the pavement portion in the middle. It’s twisty and has some blind corners. With mud on your tires it will be slick.
This is still on the Skalkaho first descent. You will also climb this at the end. This is one of the pothole sections, there are lines but you have to pay attention.
This is Rock Creek Road gravel section also called Ruff Ryders. It’s in typical shape, gravel and brake bumps are common. It’s better then in years past, but this is the roughest section on equipment.
