5. Aly Raisman – The US Gymnast hauled in 3 medals to lead the squad. This included 2 golds in Floor Exercise and Team Overall. She gets on my list for rising to the occasion in the biggest meet of all and having parents who are competing for the “best fan” award.
4. Arthur Zanetti – The Brazilian Gymnast pulled the biggest upset of the games thus far. He won the gold in the rings over China’s Chen Yibing. Yibing had lost one international competition in the last 5 years! Zanetti pumped for Rio in 2016 pulled the massive surprise.
3. Jessica Ennis – The British Heptathlete not only won the gold in her home Olympics, but dominated the meet and sealed it with a bow by winning the 800 in prime time. Despite her mid-pack 800 caliber she sprinted the last 150 meters and won by lengths.
2. Kirani James – The 400 meter gold medalist is the best sportsman of the these games. He traded numbers with Oscar Pistorius (only amputee to compete in Olympics ever) after their heat. After James won the only Gold in Grenada’s history the first thing he did was shake hands with every single competitor. There was no in your face or pointing. All of this was amplified when I found out he was just 19.
1. Sam Schultz – He hasn’t competed yet, but we’re a little bias. Schultz’s race will be August 12th at 6:30am. MSNBC will have the coverage
