I grew up traveling the US and beyond by being raised in a military family. So I’m from all over the place but have called Steamboat Springs, Colorado, home for the past 32 years. The draw of the mountains and adventure has kept me grounded in this amazing place. I am a 35+ year bicycle industry veteran having worked in manufacturing, sales, marketing and more. Currently, I split my time between The Cycling House and when I’m home in the Yampa Valley, I fabricate frames at Bingham Built Bikes. My passion for cycling spans all disciplines, but I have a deep fondness for Cyclocross racing.

What is the best thing about working at The Cycling House?

I feel like the guests, food, staff, and the variety of riding makes TCH more like family and “team” really is an authentic word in this case. Seeing guests achieve amazing days on the bike and really seeing them surprise themselves along the way.

Do you have a favorite ride?

Hard to hold it to just one, but if I had to choose it would be what we call Circle the Zirkel. I can ride this from the front door of my house and it consists of 150 miles of gravel roads that take you up and over the continental divide twice. Ride it in a single BIG day, or bike pack it over 2 days. Either way, it’s special and home for me.

What is the most memorable day you’ve ever had on the bike?

My first ever bike packing ride ranks high. In a foreign country (Germany), a good friend of mine and I decided we would stay late after a trade show and ride the loop (180km) around Lake Constance that boarders Germany and Switzerland. We did it with minimal equipment (think strapping your gear on your bike in trash bags). We toured and stopped at every bakery we encountered. Needless to say we gained weight over 3 days of riding! One of the days was my birthday and I could not have asked for anything more!
