What I have come to notice over the past few years is that I am one of those “Young-Old Guys” who quite possibly has a story for everything. I never thought I would be one of those guys, but in a rather short time, I have come to live what seems like “everywhere” and my dabbling in almost every outdoor/adventure activity might appear a touch fabricated. I began in PA, swimming and playing college Ice-Hockey, while simultaneously earning an accredited Personal Training Certification, along with teaching Yoga & Core classes on Campus. I studied volumes on nutrition as well as psychology, only to find myself transferring to San Diego State University to graduate in of all things- Political Science w/an emphasis in Islamic & Arabic Studies. Oddly enough, even though I changed what I thought to be my professional pathway, California is where I began to live the life I love and share with The Cycling House today.
I began racing Triathlons in San Diego, which ultimately led me to racing Bicycles full-time. During my studies, I worked in kitchens all over San Diego, while being taught by a friend who ran his own private “Dinner Party” style catering business. I was given the opportunity to race Road Bikes Full-Time, at a high level in The States. Attempting to take this dream as far as possible, the economics in cycling is rather meager, so I began to race while subsidizing my rent via cooking for families who supported my goals, in locations that were conducive to training.
Fast-forward to today, and I am still racing full-time and working as a chef for TCH. I get to apply my knowledge of nutrition from these years of experience racing. I have found that tangible, applicable experience in nutrition for a cyclist in training or intense riding @ TCH, is of great value. My attempt to cook truly functional, yet more importantly, as I hope you to discover & agree- DELICIOUS healthy Meals cooked with passion.
