A week in Glacier National Park

Barbara, B. from Atlanta, Georgia has traveled with The Cycling House several times. In 2023, we created a private trip for Barbara and her friends in Glacier National Park. Check out what Barbara had to say about her experience.

We can host private trips at any of our public trip locations, send us an email or give us a call to help us setup your dream trip with your friends.

Our group of mostly over age 50 adventurers were looking for a week of biking fun and challenge in a beautiful destination – we found it with The Cycling House’s custom Glacier National Park trip!

The trip showcased the best cycling Glacier has to offer – Going to the Sun Road – with climbs to the top from both the west and east side, Two Medicine Lake, Polebridge and more.

Our first day was an easy spin from Whitefish along back country roads to our hotel in West Glacier, knocking off the jet lag and getting our cycling legs engaged. Day 2 was a splendid ride along the west side of Glacier National Park to the well known community of Polebridge, with its world famous bakery and huckleberry bear claws. Lunch, stops for a polar plunge into the waters of the Flathead river for the brave and for huckleberry ice cream for the smart and a chance to relax before dinner. On our third day, an epic bucket list ride – climbing Going to the Sun Road to Logan Pass, and a fast, fun descent back to the lodge for lunch along the banks of St. Mary’s Lake. And, of course, more huckleberry ice cream and a home cooked dinner. Our next day was a relatively chill ride to the top of Looking Glass Road before descending to Two Medicine Lake for a lakeside picnic, and more polar plunging for the brave (or was that foolhardy?). Our final ride was another climb to Logan Pass, this time from the east side of the park.

The rides provided plenty of challenge for even the most experienced cyclists. And with e-bike options, the rides were accessible to all – from relatively inexperienced climbers to those who just didn’t have a chance to fit in a lot training in their hectic lives.

This trip was a “private” tour – customized for our group and their goals. All for the same cost as a standard tour!

What sets this tour apart from others (as with all Cycling House tours), is the Cycling House people. It starts with an incredible staff to rider ratio. Staff riding with us and staff on the road to support us. And that staff is the best – bar none! People who are knowledgeable, supportive, and fun – people you want to be friends with on and off the bike. The TCH people catered to our every want and need. By the end of the trip, they knew us well enough to provide an end of ride award ceremony that absolutely nailed it!

Did I mention the rental bikes? Top of the line and well maintained bikes.

There are not enough superlatives to adequately describe the trip: great people, incredible scenery, lifetime bucket list rides, and that feeling of being able to conquer the world after an epic ride!

We’re ready to do it again!!!!
