What We’ve Been Up To

When October and November roles around it might look like not much is happening at the Cycling House. We aren’t out guiding on the roads Tuscany or making a home cooked meal in the mountains of Montana for one of our Adventure Tours. But that said, we are busy in Missoula planning and preparing for the upcoming year and, equally as important, getting outside and enjoying the amazing Fall weather. Below is a few of the fun things we’ve been doing…

Rolling Thunder

One of the highlights of our “Shoulder Season” is the Rolling Thunder cyclocross race held in Missoula, MT. Shaun Radley (our operating officer) started rolling thunder 12 years ago and it’s been a highlight of many Northwest racers and spectators ever since. The last couple of years this event has been held at Big Sky Brewing (where Moose Drool is made) which has only elevated the excitement for all of us here at the Cycling House since we enjoy their brews on all of our Montana trips.

Every year we setup the Cycling House Beer Tent to raise cash for the men’s and women’s prize purse. Our staff and volunteers take donations for the free Big Sky Beer then 100% of the funds go to the racers. It’s fun to see the guys and girls that make the top 3 podium spots holding up a pile of cash.

For the day after this event, Brendan and I organized a post Rolling Thunder “hangover ride” followed by a Sunday BBQ. This was the perfect way to cap off another great weekend in Missoula, MT

Zootown Derailleurs

A few of us here have been helping out with Missoula Park and Rec’s new after school bike program called Zootown Derailleurs. Participation has been amazing (it filled up in 1 hour) and we’re already scoping out a few of these kids to be future Cycling House guides :)

I have more to post but that’s an abbreviated summary of what we’ve been up to these past few weeks. Our Tucson season will be here soon and 2017 is going to be a blast! As always, feel free to reach out to us at any point if you ever have questions about what we do. We’d love to hear from you.

Cheers,
